Meet The Latest Apprentices at Delga Press!

Like many businesses within the manufacturing industry, we recognise we have an ageing workforce and that there is a potential of losing the exceptional experience that comes with that workforce if we don’t act now.  As well as needing to plan for the future, we wanted to engage with a younger age group who are looking for an opportunity to learn a trade to be proud of.

It is not the first time Delga Press has opened apprenticeship roles, many of the staff working in the factory started their career as an apprentice.  It has always been recognised as a great introduction to the world of skilled print, Group Managing Director, Ian Conetta, started his print career via the same route.

We reached out to the BPIF (British Printing Industries Federation) who offer the opportunity for apprentices to work towards recognised qualifications whilst being employed on a full-time basis. The training is executed in a structured manner, which will help to develop a range of trade skills as well as personal development.

We have now taken on 2 new apprentices, Joshua, and Oliver!

BPIF Training offer structured training plans our apprentices work towards, whilst working onsite and gaining practical training from the skilled operators we already have.

The plan is to ensure they are given the tools and the time needed to complete the apprenticeship. We understand that giving them the correct training will have a positive impact, not only on them, but will in turn increase productivity and strengthen the future of Delga Press.

Our apprentices will be working towards an industry-recognised qualification.

“My Goals are to complete this apprenticeship and further my career, by learning new skills.
I’m finding the role really challenging. I’ve been learning all sorts to see how things work and how things are done, I am enjoying everything I’m currently doing including learning about handling paper. I’m getting on with the team really well and they’re supporting me with any issues I come across. It’s a great environment to learn.”

“After reading the job description I looked at the company website and watched a few videos of the printing industry and I thought it looked quite interesting. I’m enjoying the role at Delga Press so far. I’ve been learning how to handle paper, how to strip out projects and learning how the machines work across both printing and finishing. Everyone who works here is very approachable and easy to talk to. Whenever they see me performing tasks they give me advice and offer support in order to become more efficient, making the work easier to perform as they’re all skilled and experienced.”

Welcome to the team, we wish you great success in your print journey.
